What are the primary functions of the organization?

CAOS is a charitable organization engaged in advancing ophthalmic education and research and in fostering relationships within the Chinese American ophthalmologic community. One of our current ongoing projects is to assist in translating the AAO's basic and clinical science manuals into Chinese.

Who joins CAOS?
In addition to ophthalmologists of Chinese descent, individuals of any ethnic background involved in the visual sciences (optometrists, opticians and vision scientists) and interested in developing ties with the Chinese American ophthalmologic community are welcome to participate.

Who are responsible for organizing the society?

The governing board of CAOS is an elected committee of dedicated members. The current president is Roy S. Chuck, M.D., Ph.D. For a full roster of the board, please refer to the Boards section.

What are some of CAOS' educational and social activities?
Various members of CAOS including Mark Tso, M.D. participated in the sponsorship and development of the Beijing Medical University Eye Center. In addition, CAOS organizes an annual banquet at the AAO and ARVO conferences for its national members. We are currently in the process of planning regional activities to facilitate more frequent interaction between its local members.
